Asbestos

General Information

The asbestos National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants, (NESHAP), 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, requires written notification of demolition or renovation operations under Section 61.145. The form may be used to fulfill this requirement. Only complete notification forms are acceptable. Any person filing a notification for an asbestos removal or demolition project that is subject to the requirements of the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (Rule 1002) shall pay the applicable fee (Rule 309) at the time the notification is submitted to the Air Pollution Control Officer.

The notification is required for demolition even if there is no asbestos present. Incomplete notification may result in enforcement action.

The notification should be submitted no later than ten working days prior to the beginning of the any work.
