Owens Lake Hydrology

The Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District began formal monitoring of the shallow hydrology of Owens Lake in 1992 through a network of shallow groundwater piezometers and spring flow monitoring sites. The District monitoring program includes both naturally occurring springs as well as artificial springs formed from the uncontrolled flow of abandoned artesian wells.
